LIBRARY CARDS
Visitor or resident, everyone is eligible for a Door County Library card; there are no age or residence restrictions. Fill out a simple application; borrowers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for their card. Original cards are free; there is a small fee for replacement of lost or destroyed cards.
The Door County Library is affiliated with over fifty other Northeast Wisconsin libraries in the Nicolet Federated Library System [NFLS] and the Outagamie Waupaca Library System (OWLS). Our library cards are called “InfoSoup” cards; they may be used at any Door County library and most NFLS/OWLS libraries.
LOAN PERIODS
General collection, new non-fiction books, audio books, music, software, toys and art prints: 4 weeks
New fiction books and magazines: 2 weeks
DVD's and VHS videos: 1 week
Maximum at any one time: 75 items total, which may include up to 25 CD's and 25 DVD/VHS videos
FEES
Late materials are assessed a fee of 15 cents per item per day, to a maximum of $5 per item. Lost or damaged items incur a replacement charge. Renewals, checkouts and Internet access are denied if $5 or more is owed on a library account.
RENEWALS
Items may be renewed once or twice, as long as no one else is waiting for the material. Please have your library card ready to speed up the process. There are four ways to renew items.
1. Access “My Account” on the InfoSoup catalog (requires library card and pin numbers)
2. Call your local library and request a renewal
3. Take items to the librarian at your local library
4. Renew with the “Self Check” computer at the Sturgeon Bay, Baileys Harbor or Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Library
PROGRAMS
We offer a variety of programs for children and adults; a calendar of events is available online. Inquire about current story times, book discussion groups, and Internet or catalog training. Programs and training are free of charge.
SERVICES
Library Computers: All library branches have public access computers available to the public. Reservations for the computers can be made at the libraries, or online with a library card and pin for computers in the Baileys Harbor, Fish Creek, Sturgeon Bay, and Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Libraries. Reserve a computer now.
Internet Access: Free access to the Internet is available at all libraries. Computers may be reserved for a specific time. Free WiFi is also available as are laptops to check out for in-house use.
Meeting Rooms: The Sturgeon Bay Library has three meeting rooms available at no charge to non-profit community groups. Rooms are available Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM until 15 minutes before closing time. Meetings held at the library must be open to the public. Sister Bay has one meeting room available. Contact a librarian at (920) 743-6578 (Sturgeon Bay Library) or (920) 854-2721 (Sister Bay Library) for complete information and to book a room at either library. Limited AV equipment is also available for use with meetings.
Photocopier: Most branches of the Door County Library have a photocopier available for use by the public. There is a small charge per page.
Interlibrary Loan: Materials may be borrowed from libraries throughout the state of Wisconsin or beyond. Items not found on the InfoSoup catalog may be requested online or through your local librarian.
Laurie History Room: Our collection of books and information on local (Door County and Wisconsin) history is available for in-library use at the Sturgeon Bay Library. Decades of the local newspaper are available on microfilm for reading and printing. Plat books going back to 1899 are also available.
Walking Books: The Friends of Door County Libraries offer personalized delivery of books to the homebound. Call the library for details 920-743-6578.

Meetings are currently scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. They are usually held at the Sturgeon Bay Library, 107 S 4th Avenue Sturgeon Bay, (920) 743-6578. Some variations may occur.
Agendas will be available approximately one week prior to the meeting.

VOLUNTEERS / SUPPORT
Friends: The Friends of Door County Libraries is an organization of DC Library supporters, and is affiliated with both state and national friends’ groups. Volunteers provide year ‘round support for library programs and special needs, as well as coordination of the summer book sale. They raise and provide funds for library programs and projects of interest to the entire community. Membership is open to all. Annual Dues: $ 5 for individuals, $ 10 for families.
Foundation: The Door County Library Foundation, Inc was organized in 1987 for charitable and educational purposes for the benefit of the Door County Library. Tax deductible gifts to the Library are gratefully received in the form of cash, stock, real estate, trusts, life insurance beneficiary designations and bequests.
