Door County Kids Read 2017: Kindness

The Door County School and Public Libraries are partnering together in the month of February to spread a little kindness across the peninsula. Library programs will be focusing on books about kindness and how children can make a difference in the lives of those around them. The focal book for the school library programs is the book Famous by Naomi Shihab Nye. This poem-turned-picture book implies that we can all be famous to someone in our lives just by our kind words and actions. The library staff chose this book because Write On, Door County is bringing the author, Naomi Shihab Nye, to the peninsula in March for both school and community presentations. Students will also create poems, drawings and videos to share kindness with other schools, participate in Google hangouts with neighboring districts, and maybe even try a little kindness.
